Mission Briefing

Hello Agents,

We have made so much progress in our ability to write, solve problems, conduct science experiments, learn about other cultures, read the Bible, and create art that I would love it if you could tell everyone about what you have done. Here is what we are doing this week, make sure to tell your parents about what you enjoyed learning during the week.

Here are your objectives this week.

  • Spelling: We are working on spelling list L5.
  • Language Arts: We are working on editing and revising our personal narratives. Tell your parents about juicy words and imaginative details that you have used.
  • Math: We are learning how to multiply and create arrays. Tell your parents about array city and how to count with groups of three.
  • Social Studies: We are learning how cedar and salmon were used by the Coast Salish people.
  • Science: We are experimenting to find what conducts thermal energy and what insulates it better, wood, plastic, or metal. Tell you parents what you discovered.
  • Bible: We will continue our study of John. Tell you parents what you have learned about Jesus from the book of John.
  • Art: We are learning how to create volume in our drawings with shading. Show your parents how you can make your drawings look three dimensional by drawing shades of lights and darks in the shadows.

Homework:

  • Read 15 min. I am sending books home, and I will test them on fluency and comprehension in class.
  • Skip count by 2, 3, 5, and 10. Try counting with objects around the house, organizing objects into groups.
  • Spelling List Practice: Have students sound out the words. Recognizing the phonograms in each word is the most important part of how we teach students to spell with SWR. For extra spelling practice, check out this page on spelling rules, which can be found in Online Learning Resources.

I look forward to another fun week of learning!
