Mission Briefing

Hello Agents,

I’m thrilled with how the year is starting off. We have some quality art. Our map books are looking great. Science experiments have been fun. And I’m very happy to see how well everyone is learning their math strategies.

  • Spelling: This will be our last week of practicing commonly used words.
  • Writing: We are learning about personal narratives and set writing goals for the year.
  • Reading: We are learning how to connect with what we read.
  • Math: We are continuing to practice our counting patterns and we will learn how to use tables of columns and rows.
  • Social Studies: We will finish our map books and learn more about how to use maps.
  • Science: We will learn about liquid density and experiment with bubbles.
  • Art: We will learn about warm and cool colours.
  • Bible: We will continue learning the importance of showing respect with our character.

Important Reminders

  • September 29 – Orange Shirt Day – wear orange shirt with causal clothes to show your support for the indigenous community
  • September 30 – Truth and Reconciliation Day – no school
  • October 1 – Pro D – no school
  • Fridays are Knight Days, so feel free wear a casual clothes if with a knight shirt.
  • Homework – I have been sending math assignments home with some agents if they could use the practice and have time to finish their assignment.

Mission Briefing

Hello Agents,

Everyone’s hard work this week is showing in their projects such as our map book and art work. I especially appreciate the effort everyone is putting into keeping up with their math skills. Practicing skip counts really helps. Here are your objectives this week.

  • Spelling: We will keep doing our warm up spelling tests with easy commonly used words to get used to how we will do spelling this year.
  • Writing: We will start learning about personal narratives and set writing goals for the year.
  • Reading: We will learn about the skill to connect to what we read.
  • Math: We will continue finding and creating addition and subtraction patterns as well as learn how to use ordinal numbers.
  • Social Studies: We will continue learning to use maps and creating our book about maps.
  • Science: We will make slime to experiment and observe the properties of different states of matter.
  • Art: We will learn how to use complementary colours to make a striking contrasts in our painting.
  • Bible: We will continue learning the importance of honouring God with our character.

Important Reminders

  • September 22 Terry Fox run, please bring a toonie for Terry!
  • Fridays are Knight Days, so feel free wear a casual clothes if with a knight shirt.
  • Tuesday Pizza lunch will begin September 21. Orders will be placed through the Munch a Lunch system linked on the school website under My Highroad. Orders must be received 2 weeks prior to the lunch date.
  • Scholastic Book Orders Order forms have gone home. Check the Scholastic Reading Club link on the right for my class code and link to online ordering. Ordering through scholastic with my link helps us build up or classroom library. Thank you!
  • Reading A-Z books I will be sending books home for students to read that are based on their reading level. Please make some time to help them with pronunciation and discussing what they understand. I will check their comprehension in class.

It has been a pleasure meeting all of you and exploring the ways we will learn this year. I look forward to experimenting, creating, and growing with all of you.

  • Spelling: We will be doing some warm up spelling tests with easy commonly used words to get used to how we will do spelling this year.
  • Writing: We will learn how we generate ideas for writing.
  • Reading: We will learn what makes a good reader.
  • Math: We will find and create patterns in numbers.
  • Social Studies: We will learn how to use and make maps.
  • Science: We will learn about the different states of matter
  • Art: We will learn how to combine and create colours using paint.
  • Bible: We will learn the importance of honouring God with our character.

  • Fridays are Knight Days, so feel free wear a casual clothes if with a knight shirt.
  • Drop off The school will be open at 8:55. It will be helpful for us to drop students off between 8:45 to 8:55 especially if it is raining, however the playground will be open if they are earlier.
  • Pick up Students will be released like we have in the past, look for them on the playground if they are not waiting in front of the portables.

Greetings agents, welcome to your new headquarters!

Welcome back to school! I hope everyone had a fun and relaxing summer break. It’s time to get back to a year full of learning and fun together with friends. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to teach the joy of learning and discovering curiosity our world.

Here are our mission objectives.

Math: Review mental math strategies, find arrays in the world (objects arranged in columns and rows), and practice skip counting by 2, 5, and 10)

Science: Notice where we find seeds around us. Bring some in if you find them so we can experiment with them on Thursday.

Language Arts: Make goals for the year and learn to take notes on what we read to find the important words that help us imagine and remember.

Bible: Learn how to honour God with our heart, soul, mind, and strength.

Your assignments, should you choose to accept them:

  • Read at least 15 minutes every night.
  • Skip count by 2, 5, and 10 every every night.
  • Practice phonograms and spelling words written in the planner.
  • Think of ways that we can honour God.

Important information.

Homework: Parents, please sign planners when students have completed their tasks.

PE: We have the gym on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Please bring your gym clothes to change into. It is especially important to have gym shoes so we don’t mark the gym floor. Usually students leave these in their locker.

Library: We will have Library on Fridays. Please remember to bring Library books back to school.

Memory Verse: Later this month we will start practicing our memory verses, which we would like students to work on at home.

Planners: Please remember to bring planners home for homework, important dates, and keeping track of permission slips. You can also write notes for me in here. Students will earn class money for having their planner returned and signed showing they completed their homework.

Headphones: We will use educational applications on our iPads. Please bring some headphones so that you will be able to use the audio portion.

Student Information form: I have sent home a student information form. Please fill this out for the office. Thank you!
