October 16

Mission brief for this week

The Corn Maze is this Monday. Any parents or siblings that would like to join us and help supervise are welcome, $5.50 for parents and $8.50 for children over 3. It will likely be muddy out there. Please send students with boots and a bag for their pumpkin.

In math, we are learning multiplication with 10 and 5. To help reinforce the concept, have students count money with dimes and nickels.

In science, we are learning about classifications of plants: vascular plants that pull water through tubes, non-vascular plants such as moss, and fungi (we will be trying to see what we can grow out of food left overs).

In creative writing, we will be learning how to form an idea for a good story.

In reading we will be finishing up our study of poetry with onomatopoeia and rhythm.

In social studies we will begin learning about the First People of Canada.

In Bible we will continue learning about the Genesis story.

Corn Maze field trip October 17

I sent permission slips home with students today for the corn maze field trip on October 17. Please fill those out and return them as soon as possible, preferably by Friday.

Also, please remember that there is no school next Monday and Tuesday for Thanksgiving and a Pro-D day.
