Soup Picnic

The high school cooking class will put on a soup picnic for us, and they are asking that we bring some chicken or vegetable stock on October 26 so they can cook it up for next week.

If you can, please send in some chicken or vegetable stock, a 1 liter tetra pak for example, by October 26.

Thank you

Mission Briefing

Hello Agents,

Here is a recap of our missions and objectives:

  • Math
    • We are learning how to quickly add with skip counting by 2.
    • Next time you have to count something, try counting groups of 2.
  • Science
    • We are learning how classification helps us organize objects into groups by their properties, which makes them easier to find, pick out what we want, and remember them.
    • Next time you are trying to find something in a store or other organized place, notice how classification helps you.
  • Language Arts
    • This week we have been working on reading with fluency and writing complete sentences.
    • Find some good books and think about what makes them so fun to read.
  • Social Studies
    • We are learning about the different areas and geographical features of Canada.
    • Next Wednesday we will play some games and have a quiz over the geography of Canada. Check out this site if you would like to review some places we learned about and get a head start on new ones.

As always, have fun and enjoy learning agents!

SWR Session

Our Spell to Write and Read session for parents is tomorrow, Tuesday, Oct. 3 from 3:15-4:15. Parents can learn about how we teach phonograms to assist with spelling, reading, and writing.

We will also be showing the SWR iPad app, which can help students learn their phonograms independantly at home. There is also an android version of the app.

E-mail me at dwolfsen@highroadacademy.com if you would like us to provide childcare during the program.
