Mission Briefing

Hello Agents!

Here are your objectives this week.

Math: We will discover divisibility through finding patterns.

Science: We will experiment with bubbles to learn about properties of matter.

Language Arts: We will learn more about poetry, forming simple stories, and reading current events.

Social Studies: We will learn about important jobs and places in our community to create a map.

Bible: We will learn about Christian Character and ways we can respect others. Our scripture memory for October is Matthew 6: 9-13.

Art: We will learn about contrast.

Spelling: We will review our phonograms and learn about silent final “E” rules.

Upcoming Events

  • September 30 Orange Shirt Day
    • We are supporting the “every child matters” theme inspired by efforts of reconciliation with the First Nations. If you wish to show your support, students may wear an orange shirt with casual pants. If you do not wish to participate, normal uniform dress code applies.
  • October 4 Corn Maze Field Trip
    • Wear boots.
    • Bring a bag for a pumpkin.
    • If parents would like to join us, please make sure to have a criminal record check on file with the office.

Chilliwack Corn Maze

On Friday, October 4, 2019 from 12:30-3pm, we are going on a field trip to the Chilliwack Corn Maze. Wear play clothes and boots. Also, make sure to bring a bag for your pumpkin.

Parents, please join us. You’ll have to pay yourselves we you arrive and make sure to have an up to date background check on file at the office.

I have most permission slips signed. I’m just waiting on a few people.

Math: We will find and predict patterns and use them to create rules that we can use in mathematics.

Science: We will experiment with bubbles to learn about properties of matter.

Language Arts: We will learn more about poetry, forming simple stories, and reading current events.

Social Studies: We will learn about the importance of the role we play in our family and community.

Bible: We will learn about Christian Character and ways we can honour God.

Art: We will finish our lesson on warm and cool colours.

Spelling: We review our phonograms and /sh/ spelling rules.

Terry Fox Run

Thursday, September 26 we will run laps and collect Toonies for Terry in honour of Terry Fox. If you would like to donate to this fundraiser for the Cancer Society to treat and find a cure for cancer, please bring a toonie on Thursday.

Mission Briefing

Hello Agents!

Here are your objectives this week.

Math: We will work on skip counting by 2, 5, and 10 forwards and backwards, starting from random numbers. We will also continue working on counting by 25. This is difficult for many. Try practicing counting quarters at home.

Science: We will continue learning about the different states of matter.

Language Arts: We will learn more about poetry and forming simple stories.

Social Studies: We  will learn about the importance of the role we play in our family and community.

Bible: We will learn about Christian Character and ways we can honour God.

Art: We will learn how to make and use complementary colours in a painting

Spelling: We will be reviewing our phonograms and /sh/ spelling rules.

Important Notices

  • September 16 Parent Night 6:30 pm
    • We will meet and greet until 7:30 pm and talk about plans for the school year until 8:00 pm.

Greetings agents, welcome to your new headquarters!

Here are our mission objectives.

Math: Review counting strategies. Skip counting by 2, 5, 10, and 25 (counting quarters).

Science: Discover the properties of matter.

Language Arts: Learn how poetry creates an experience with rhythm, rhyme, and flow in language.

Social Studies: Use maps to help us understand our location in the world.

Bible: Learn how to honour God with our heart, soul, mind, and strength.

Your assignments, should you choose to accept them:

  • Learn and practice your secret handshake.
  • Practice counting with coins.
  • Look for language that is pleasant or emotional (poetry, lyrics).
  • Notice maps that help us find our location.
  • Think of ways that we can honour God.

Important information.

Homework: Our homework will mostly be reviewing spelling or phonograms and reading 15 minutes each night. I will send notes home if we have a special project to do at home.

Spelling: We will spend the first several weeks of school reviewing spelling rules before we start our spelling list. Please spend this time reviewing phonograms and practicing sounding out words to recognize how we use phonograms in English.

PE: We have the gym on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Please bring your gym clothes to change into. Check out our schedule for more details.

Planners: Please remember to bring planners home for homework, important dates, and keeping track of permission slips. Parents can also write notes for me in here. Students will earn team points for bringing their planner and having it signed.

Criminal Record Check: Parents that would like to join us on field trips must have an up to date criminal record check on file with the office. Please speak with Kathy or Denise if you would like to have one done.

Hot Lunch: Students can buy pizza on Tuesdays for $2 per slice.

Students can pre-order hot dogs on Knight Days.

Headphones: We will use educational applications on our iPads. Please bring some headphones so that you will be able to use the audio portion.
