Friday, March 1 We have a Knight Day this Friday since Pink Shirt Day displaced the regular Knight Day on Wednesday.

Tuesday, March 5 We are having trouble finding families to bake goods for the Thailand mission trip bake sale next Tuesday. If you’re able, please sign up on our classroom door to help us make this fundraiser a success.

Mission Briefing

Hello Agents!

Here are your objectives this week.

Math: We are learning to multiply and count by seven.

Science: We will experiment with different types of heat transfer.

Language Arts: We will continue our novel study and work on improving our story writing by adding dialogue, paragraphs, and transitions.

Social Studies: We will learn about oral story telling and the way of life of the Sto:lo.

Bible: We will continue working on our pop-up book of the story of creation. Our memory verse is 1 Corinthians 13:4-8.

Art: We will paint the wintry scene that we postponed for making bake sale posters.

Spelling: We will work on the N8 spelling list this week and have the test on Friday.

Important Notices

  • Bake Sale
    • On March 5th, the primary department will be hosting a bake sale to support our school’s mission trip to Thailand.  The sale will be open before and after school in the foyer on March 5th.  Each item will be $1.  There will be individually packaged gluten-free items available. Thank you for supporting Team Thailand.
  • Book Fair
    • The Scholastic Book Fair will be from Tuesday to Thursday before and after school.
  • Pink Shirt Day
  • Math Mayhem
    • We will have the gym filled with fun math games on March 5th from 6:30pm to 8pm. Mrs. Bartel’s Grade 11 Math class has been working hard to creating various math games.

Volunteers needed for Thailand Bake Sale

On Tuesday, March 5th, the Primary will be hosting a bake sale to raise funds for the high school missions trip to Thailand. We are looking for parents who are willing to bake or buy treats for the sale.

Examples of items that sell well include:

  • cupcakes
  • fancy cookies
  • donuts
  • brownies
  • rice krispie squares
  • puff wheat squares
  • small bags of gummies
  • worm/dirt pudding cups with spoons

There is a sign up sheet on the classroom door for anyone who is able to donate. Thank you in advance for supporting team Thailand!

Here are your objectives this week, mostly the same as what we would have done last week 🙂

Math: We will continue learning to multiply by four this week and apply the skill to problem solving.

Science: We will learn about insulators and conductors and experiment with them.

Language Arts: We will continue our novel study and work on improving our story writing by adding dialogue, paragraphs, and transitions.

Social Studies: We will review what we have learned about the Coast Salish communities, then compare and contrast them with what we learned about modern communities.

Bible: We will read about the fall in Genesis, then do an art project on it. Our memory verse is 1 Corinthians 13:4-8.

Art: We will paint a wintry scene.

Spelling: We will not have a spelling this week. We will learn spelling rules.

    • We are going on a field trip to see Peter Pan by the Heritage Christian Online School at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre on May 29 at 10am. If you would like to join us, tickets are $16 for parents. Showings fill up quickly and we have to pay for the tickets ahead of time to reserve our seats in the theatre, so please let us know if you would like to attend by Friday, February 22.

    • We will be attending The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe on February 22 in the chapel. It will run from 12:45-3pm. It’s possible that it could go a little long, though we are hoping it ends on time.

Board Game Club

On February 20, we will host a board game club for Grade 2-3 students every Wednesday from 3 to 4pm in our classroom. The club will run until spring break.

There will be a sign-up sheet on my classroom door. We are limiting the size of the club to the first 20 students to sign up.
