Writing Assignment – Personal Narratives: Generating Ideas Part 2

Materials:

Note: if you don’t want to print off the packet, you can find a PDF marking tool or simply redraw the page however you want, like a poster. Otherwise, complete this activity on the second half of page on Coming up with good story ideas.

Another way to generate ideas for writing personal narratives is thinking about times that we had strong emotions. Emotions can make experiences more memorable.

  • Read My New Scooter and think about the following questions.
    • What strong emotion did the author have?
    • Does this emotion remind me of an experience that gave me a similar feeling?
  • Next to each of the emotions on the Story Ideas page in the Personal Narrative Packet, write about an experience when you had that feeling.

Let me know what difficulties you’re having and we can make adaptations. If you’re getting done and looking for more, please explore the extra activities and links on the online learning resources page and tell me if you there is something else you would like to learn about.

Good luck out there agents!
